Alpha Delta Pi – Be the First
Yes we are!! ADPi is the first secret society in the world for women and we were founded at the first college in the world to offer 4 year degrees to women. We’ve been leaders in the sorority world since our founding, and continue making a positive difference in the lives of our members and the communities in which they live – whether they are current college women or alumna members. Membership in Alpha Delta Pi is for a lifetime, and that lifetime of membership offers members the opportunity to continue experiencing the love and support of sisters, no matter their age, and of giving and learning and serving the sorority and the world in which we live – forever!
The award-winning ADPi chapter at Virginia Tech is filled with young women who make a difference – in their lives and the lives of their sisters, and in the larger community. ADPi’s are givers – of themselves and their time and talents to the sorority, their academic careers, the campus and larger community; they are supporters – of one another, their friends and family, their country and their faiths.

So what does it mean to be an Alpha Delta Pi? Throughout my years as an ADPi (initiated on December 7, 1967 at W. Va. Wesleyan, Gamma Kappa Chapter), it has meant being accepted and respected for who I am and not having to change to fit in - but being accepted for what I, as a unique individual, bring to the sorority. I learned that every sister is special and needed, and you don’t have to be an officer to make a real difference in your chapter. It means finding life-long friends who are always there for one another. It means finding unconditional love and support from my sisters, no matter our age. It means sharing fun, crazy and, silly times; sharing chapter, campus and community work and activities; sharing loss and grief and heartbreak, knowing that my sisters are always there for me, as I am always there for them. ADPi means having the opportunity to serve this incredible organization and its members in so many ways…..as collegiate members and leaders, as alumnae advisors, as members of alumnae associations, as international officers and committee members, as volunteers and professionals in our communities. The values of Alpha Delta Pi are timeless, and we strive to excel in our true sisterhood, service to sorority and community, excellence in scholarship and lifelong learning, and numerous opportunities for fun social activities. The leadership and interactive skills I have learned as an ADPi have helped me do a better job in whatever leadership roles I have held in my profession (OB/Neonatal RN), my community activities, and as a wife, mother, and Nana! The values of ADPi closely match those I grew up with, and continue to guide me every day.
As an ADPi I have been privileged to serve as an advisor, an international officer, and on international committees. For the past 30 years, I have gotten to serve as Executive Chapter Advisor for Eta Pi Chapter, since their founding in 1990.
Serving and sharing our sisterhood with the women of Eta Pi chapter has been a great privilege and a true delight. I love what I get to do!! I am sincere in saying I love every one of “my girls” and would do anything in the world for them. We Live For Each Other is our motto…..and I live for them and my sisters everywhere, every day. I’m excited to be able to do that for our newest members, following Primary Recruitment in January!"
